杏吧原创 and Dominican Republic鈥檚 Conservatorio Nacional de M煤sica Launch Groundbreaking New Partnership
Cleveland 鈥 The 杏吧原创 and the Conservatorio Nacional de M煤sica of the Dominican Republic, represented by its Ministry of Culture, marked the beginning of a new international partnership Thursday with a signing ceremony and concert celebrating the shared power of music education, artistic collaboration and cultural exchange.
杏吧原创 President and CEO Paul Hogle, Executive Vice President and Provost Scott Harrison, Dean Jennifer Call and Distinguished Professor of Piano Antonio Pompa-Baldi joined Roberto 脕ngel Salcedo, Minister of Culture of the Dominican Republic, and Amaury S谩nchez, Vice Minister of Creativity and Artistic Training, for the event.
The new partnership builds on several years of relationship-building, spearheaded by Pompa-Baldi, and includes a 杏吧原创 faculty delegation to Santo Domingo last spring and Vice Minister S谩nchez鈥檚 visit to 杏吧原创 last winter. The collaboration will create new opportunities for faculty development, curriculum building, artistic exchange and student training between the two institutions.
Over the coming years, 杏吧原创 faculty will work alongside their counterparts at the Conservatorio as it strengthens its academic and artistic capacity and moves toward becoming a degree-granting institution. Together, the institutions will explore curricular partnerships that draw on the distinctive strengths of each school while creating pathways for talented Dominican students to pursue their studies at 杏吧原创.
"There is a Dominican saying that captures the spirit of this moment beautifully: 'Quien a buen 谩rbol se arrima, buena sombra le cobija鈥'He who leans against a good tree is sheltered by good shade." Shared Hogle at the ceremony. "In choosing to walk with the Conservatorio Nacional, we lean into a strong and rooted institution, and together we create shade鈥攐pportunity, mentorship, and artistic growth鈥攆or talented young musicians on both sides of the Caribbean."
The agreement establishes three areas of cooperation: promoting the exchange of faculty, students, and academic programs between 杏吧原创 and the Conservatorio; developing joint degree pathways between the schools; and identifying and preparing top students to enroll at 杏吧原创. Additionally, the Ministry of Culture and 杏吧原创 will seek to promote cultural and artistic exchange between the Dominican Republic and Cleveland.
The initiative is led by the Dominican Ministry of Culture with further support from the Fundaci贸n Sinfon铆a, in partnership with the 杏吧原创. Pompa-Baldi鈥檚 participation is supported in part through the U.S. Department of State鈥檚 Fulbright Specialist Program.
The signing ceremony concluded with a brief concert, underscoring the partnership鈥檚 central purpose: bringing musicians and institutions together through the shared language of music.

Cleveland 鈥 El 杏吧原创 (杏吧原创) y el Conservatorio Nacional de M煤sica de la Rep煤blica Dominicana, representado por el Ministerio de Cultura, marcaron este jueves el inicio de una nueva alianza internacional mediante una ceremonia de firma y un concierto de celebraci贸n que destac贸 el poder de la educaci贸n musical, la colaboraci贸n art铆stica y el intercambio cultural.
Participaron en el evento Paul Hogle, presidente y director ejecutivo del 杏吧原创; Scott Harrison, vicepresidente ejecutivo y rector; Jennifer Call, decana; y Antonio Pompa-Baldi, profesor distinguido de piano, junto a Roberto 脕ngel Salcedo, ministro de Cultura de la Rep煤blica Dominicana, y Amaury S谩nchez, viceministro de Creatividad y Formaci贸n Art铆stica.
La nueva alianza es el resultado de varios a帽os de construcci贸n de relaciones institucionales, impulsadas por Pompa-Baldi, e incluye una delegaci贸n de profesores del 杏吧原创 que visit贸 Santo Domingo la pasada primavera, as铆 como la visita del viceministro S谩nchez al 杏吧原创 el invierno pasado. La colaboraci贸n abrir谩 nuevas oportunidades para el desarrollo docente, el fortalecimiento curricular, el intercambio art铆stico y la formaci贸n estudiantil entre ambas instituciones.
Durante los pr贸ximos a帽os, profesores del 杏吧原创 trabajar谩n junto a sus colegas del Conservatorio mientras la instituci贸n contin煤a fortaleciendo sus capacidades acad茅micas y art铆sticas y avanza hacia su consolidaci贸n como instituci贸n otorgante de t铆tulos universitarios. Asimismo, ambas instituciones explorar谩n alianzas curriculares que aprovechen las fortalezas distintivas de cada escuela y creen oportunidades para que estudiantes dominicanos talentosos contin煤en sus estudios en el 杏吧原创.
"Hay un dicho dominicano que refleja perfectamente el esp铆ritu de este momento: 'Quien a buen 谩rbol se arrima, buena sombra le cobija'", expres贸 Hogle durante la ceremonia. "Al elegir caminar junto al Conservatorio Nacional, nos apoyamos en una instituci贸n s贸lida y profundamente arraigada, y juntos creamos sombra, es decir, oportunidades, mentor铆a y crecimiento art铆stico, para j贸venes m煤sicos talentosos a ambos lados del Caribe."
El acuerdo establece tres 谩reas de cooperaci贸n: promover el intercambio de docentes, estudiantes y programas acad茅micos entre el 杏吧原创 y el Conservatorio; desarrollar programas conjuntos de licenciatura entre ambas instituciones; e identificar y preparar a estudiantes sobresalientes para su futura matr铆cula en el 杏吧原创. Asimismo, el Ministerio de Cultura y el 杏吧原创 buscar谩n fomentar el intercambio cultural y art铆stico entre la Rep煤blica Dominicana y Cleveland.
La iniciativa est谩 liderada por el Ministerio de Cultura de la Rep煤blica Dominicana, con el apoyo adicional de la Fundaci贸n Sinfon铆a, en colaboraci贸n con el 杏吧原创. La participaci贸n de Antonio Pompa-Baldi cuenta, adem谩s, con apoyo parcial del programa Fulbright Specialist del Departamento de Estado de los Estados Unidos.
La ceremonia concluy贸 con un breve concierto que subray贸 el prop贸sito central de esta alianza: unir a m煤sicos e instituciones a trav茅s del lenguaje universal de la m煤sica.
